「The Game Awards」や「D.I.C.E. Awards」と並び重要視されるゲーム開発者によるアワード「Game Developers Choice Awards」。今年も3月1日のGDC 2017開催が近づき、同アワードのノミネート作品が発表された。
各作品で見ていくと、まず「The Game Awards」でもGame of the Yearに輝いた『Overwatch』は、「ベストオーディオ」「ベストデザイン」「ベストテクノロジー」「ベストビジュアル」そして「GoTY」の5部門でノミネートされた。さらに『Limbo』のPlaydeadが放った『Inside』は6部門、シリーズ最終章となった『Uncharted 4』は4部門ノミネートとなっている。また国内企業のタイトルで見ると、『Rez Infinite』『ポケモンGO』『ポケモン サン・ムーン』『スーパーマリオラン』『人喰いの大鷲トリコ』が登場している。
なお特別部門として業界の功労者に贈られる「パイオニア」「アンバサダー」「ライフタイムアチーブメント」の各アワードの受賞者は順次発表されていくとのこと。投票によって決定される「オーディエンスアワード」は1月後半にもノミネート作品が発表され、オンライン投票が開始されることが明らかにされている。
